Merrill Robyn Cohen, Principal.

Merrill Cohen founded this law firm in 1994. Initially handling a wide range of immigration matters including political asylum, deportation matters and appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, Ms. Cohen’s practice now focuses on immigrant and non-immigrant business immigration matters, with a smaller practice on asylum and removal issues.  Her practice includes advising corporations and individuals on a variety of immigration matters.  She also represents individual professionals including research scientists, doctors, lawyers, engineers, computer science professionals, engineers, architects, designers, artists, actors, and musicians.  Ms. Cohen has represented many clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Citizenship &  Immigration Services. 

 

Ms. Cohen was interviewed extensively for a feature article about her in New York Lawyer Magazine, which is published by the New York Law Journal. In September 2006, she was awarded the Congressional Medal of Distinction. Previously, she received the 2005 Ronald Reagan Gold Medal and in 2003 and 2005 she received the National Leadership Award from the National Congressional Republican Party, for whom she serves as an Honorary Co-Chairman of the Business Advisory Council. She is a member of the American Immigration Law Association. 

Ms. Cohen is a 1991 cum laude graduate of Yeshiva University Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review.  She is a cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College, with a major in Economics and a concentration in Film Studies.  She is admitted to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department, State of New York as well as to the United States District Court, Southern District of New York and the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.

 

ADAM SETH COHEN

Adam Cohen has seven years of experience advising and counseling corporations and foreign nationals on business and family immigration matters. He assists clients in obtaining approval of H, O, E, and L visas, EB1 and EB2 petitions, PERM labor certification, and adjustment of status.  He has extensive experience in obtaining IGA and hardship J-1 waivers, and advising corporate clients on immigration compliance issues. He has represented many individuals in hearings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Adam Cohen received his law degree, cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2000, where he served on the Journal, Cardozo Studies of Law & Literature and was elected to the Order of the Coif, a national legal honors society.  He received his B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1997.

 

SAKIMA VICTORIA KELLY

Sakima Kelly is a recent law school graduate.  She is admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey, and is scheduled to be admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in March 2008.  Ms. Kelly is currently handling family and employment-based immigration cases for this firm.

Sakima Kelly received her law degree from New York Law School in 2007, where she held a Dean Scholarship and was on the Dean’s List.  Her article, “Legal-Writing Myths” was published in the February – March 2006 issue of the New York State Bar Association Journal.  Ms. Kelly received her B.A., cum laude, from New York University in 2004.
